When I get bogged down with the mundane day-to-day tasks of staying healthy, I try to look at it from a different perspective: curiosity. I ask myself “How would I feel later today if I exercise right now?” “If I push myself a little bit more today, how much will I be able to do tomorrow? Next week? Next month?” “I wonder if I can do just more lunge.” “Will I be able to survive if I don’t eat this piece of chocolate cake?”
It’s easy to get bored with activities that you do every day. Curiosity allows you to keep an open mind, open to the possibilities, open to changes. It’s not easy to change. It happens so slowly that you cannot see it. We often need a new approach to stay motivated. Imagine a child’s curiosity when they learn something new. They are excited; they are positive. They are interested in seeing the outcome. They can’t wait to do this new thing. And they want to do it again and again! Harness that excitement for your next workout. Get excited about trying a new healthful dish. You might just find that change is not so hard after all.
Afterward, you can be proud of continuing your transformation. Hmm. I'm curious. How would that feel?
